Appliance Wire and Cable refers to insulated conductors used in electrical equipment. We offer a wide selection of appliance wire & cables to assist you in finding the ideal wire at the best cost.

Appliance wire, sometimes referred to as Appliance Wiring Material (AWM), is a single-conductor wire frequently used in internal appliance circuits. Most of it is composed of stranded copper with an insulating substance like Teflon, silicone, or PVC. Heat-ageing and durability tests verify that these wires meet UL 758 safety standards. UL 1007 is the designation for a 300V PVC connection wire, while UL 1015 is the designation for a 600V PVC wire. Many appliances, such as lights, switches, and heaters, use them as internal connections. By using UL-certified appliance wire and cables, you can ensure your equipment operates safely and reliably.

Multiple circuits within equipment are wired using a multi-conductor cable with a common jacket. An appliance cable is the name given to this kind of cable. These appliance wires and cables can have twisted pairs or bundled wires, and their construction is more varied than that of single wires. UL 2464, a PVC cable type with numerous conductors, is frequently utilized in control circuits. The gauge and material of the wire are determined by temperature and voltage specifications. Each appliance cable is certified to meet appliance wiring requirements by specific UL AWM-style numbers (e.g., UL 758). As a result, we are certain that each appliance's wire and cable jacketing, insulation, and heat rating are suitable for the appliances that will use them.
Appliances use hookup wires for point-to-point connections and control cables to connect circuits and components. For 300–600V applications, these cables typically have stranded copper conductors covered in rated insulation (PVC, XLPE, or PTFE). They connect the various parts of machines, including sensors, lights, motors, and thermostats.

A single insulated conductor called "hookup wire" is the best option when wiring an interior space. Common features include canned copper and PVC or Teflon insulation. This wire is flexible and strong. As an illustration, consider UL 1007, a 300V, 105 °C PVC wire, and UL 1015, which is similar but rated 600 V. Appliance connection wire reliability is ensured by UL/CSA heat-ageing and flame tests. We offer a broad range of sizes and insulations (20–30 AWG, etc.). ideal for connecting specific appliance components, like lights, switches, and heaters, to one another.

Twisted pair cables are bundles of various insulated wires. Because of their design, which reduces electromagnetic interference, these are perfect for use as signal and data lines within appliances. A common AWM type for control circuits in appliance wiring is the UL 2464 jacketed multi-pair cable. These cables are necessary if you need to run multiple circuits in parallel, like in a control panel or the motor drive of an appliance. The twist improves the functionality of the machine's sensors or communication lines by preserving clean signals.

In a shielded cable, the conductors are encased in braided copper or metal foil. By acting as a barrier, the shield keeps outside noise and interference from getting to the wires. Braided shields are made of fine copper, which gives them strength and flexibility, and provides between 70 and 95 percent coverage. The object is completely encased in a thin layer of copper or aluminium known as the foil shield. Braided shielding is mechanically strong and efficient against low-frequency electromagnetic interference, whereas foil shielding completely protects an electrical device from high-frequency interference.

In many of our appliance wires and cables, we use premium bare copper conductors. Because copper has a high conductivity, power flows through it effectively. It also does a great job when stranded. Bare copper is a dependable and corrosion-resistant material for most appliance settings. All copper conductors used in appliance wiring have UL/CSA certification. Bare copper is still the preferred material for applications requiring exceptional conductivity, even though tinned copper is an option in some cables due to its greater resistance to oxidation.
Jackets are frequently made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polyurethane (PUR). These materials are easily bendable and flexible. PUR sheathing is extremely resistant to tears and cuts and is as durable as nails. It also resists ozone, chemicals, oils, UV light, and humidity. TPU also increases flexibility. As a result, wires covered in PUR or TPU can withstand harsh conditions (like vibration from machinery) without experiencing any damage. They are ideal for modern appliances and devices that require longer wire life because they remain pliable between -40°C and +125°C15.
The core of our shielded cables is a copper braid covered in insulation. Like a braided shield, it is both flexible and robust. Mechanical strength is increased, and the inner wires are protected from external interference. A good braid will contain enough strands to cover between 70 and 95 percent of the hair. Because of its durability and ability to flex multiple times, this kind of shield is perfect for appliance wiring, enabling the wires to adjust to any twists or movements. Another advantage is that it dissipates heat.
Additionally, we have foil-insulated wires. These cover the wires with a copper and aluminium lamination or a thin layer of aluminium foil. Foil shields offer complete coverage and stop high-frequency noise. They make the cables smaller due to their light weight and thinness. However, because of its fragility and short flex life, foil is better suited for use in areas of an appliance that are less movable. It is frequently used with a drain wire. An aluminium foil layer is a great option if you want to shield your microwave or audio device from electromagnetic interference.
